Want to get rid of that 5, 10 or 15 pounds of extra weight from the table? Easy! Follow these 3 simple steps and you could literately lose all that weight by next month! Read on…

Step #1:  Take charge of your caloric intake! Sounds simple right? Correct! Just start monitoring how much calories (not food) you eat. Lucky for us, we are way past those dark days of paper food journals. Now we have apps for our smart phones that are FREE! Apps like from MyFitnessPal or CalorieKing, which make calorie awareness and counting super easy! Use them. I have and use MyfitnessPal on my Android phone and I love and highly recommend it!

Step #2:  Get Active Again (in a good way)! Instead of spending countless hours shoveling food into your mouth, start spending that same amount of time doing something that burns calories (working out or being active). Go for a jog, a walk, a swim or a hike.  Do exercises that use several muscle groups at the same time to burn more. Have fun! Remember, Just do something! Using MyfitnessPal or CalorieKing helps you monitor and see how your activities affects your daily calorie count.

Step #3:  Start substituting your food!  Ice cream? Eat cold yogurt instead. Don’t like yogurt? Eat a frozen banana or a cold orange or peach. Instead of drinking Gatorade, drink water. Don’t like drinking straight water? Drink non sweetened tea or coffee. Need the sweets?  Try Stevia or honey or even raw sugar instead of processed. Need the carbonation of sodas?  Try club soda instead. Little changes add up to greater losses at the end.

Think, cutting 500 calories a day (that is almost two 16-ounce sodas or 2 Snickers(s) bars) adds up to 3500 calories a week! That is one pound gone for good by just cutting 2 sodas or 2 candy bars a day! Wow! Now just thing of what else you can substitute to get 500 or more calories a day without starving yourself (which by the way is the worst way to lose weight). Keep it simple. Simple changes makes it easier to stick with the plan. Too much change can be overwhelming and discouraging. Simple is the way to go!

Follow these 3 easy steps and you are on your way to getting rid of that extra Thanksgiving weight. So get out there, use your resources and get ready to feel and look better!
